MASSIFICATION

Massification, is broadly used as an expression of growth in industry, economics and medicine. My work explores a visual definition. With photographs and video, I am attempting to question, deconstruct and symbolize the way in which our society is exponentially expanding through the process of duplication.

The row of garage doors in Warehouse, the stacks of pallets in Pallets and the blanket of garbage in Beach are an exploration of this phenomenon.  The repetition in these works reflects both the way in which our society is expanding and the process required to create these images.

Both real and imaginary, these works are as much drawing, painting or sculpture, as they are photography. And through this hybrid nature, they reflect the combination of existing and constructed needs that drive expansion in our consumer society
